In the Parish of Castlegar County Galway, a Boreen begins directly to the south of the Castle in Castlegar Village.

  • This is also known as The Well Boreen, because An old Well exists to the East.
  • Included in The Castlegar Way Project.
  • One of a List of Boreens in the Townland.

By road, access is from the Bothar Na Choiste road at the coordinates of 53.298142 North and -9.02124 West . See Map of this location.

One house is built in recent years, to the South. Hundreds more look directly on it, to the North.

A tractor of Jeep could make this journey, but can be walked with relative ease.

  • The Sandy River can be seen from here, to the South, with the elusive Coopers Cave about half a mile away.
  • Approximate length of mapped area - 761 metres, 0.47 miles.
  • Approximate elevation - 6 to 10 metres.
  • Old stone walls on both side, for the most part.
